Did you know…

that Second Hand Ministry of AUMC at Little House was started May 25, 2000? They have had numerous projects over the years: selling bedding, kitchenware, clothing for all ages, and knick knacks, every day they are open. Besides this they sent truckloads of clothing and some furniture to victims of Hurricane Katrina. There were “traveling sales” to Garden
Village, Kendallwood Estates, and Windemere. There were yard sales two times each year,
Memorial Day basket sales, Christmas stores at the church, Silent Auctions, and many other
extra events to earn money for the church.
In August 2012 renovation began at Annex (Little House). Volunteers helped pack up and
transfer merchandise to a storage pod. The food pantry was moved to the chapel at that time.
The roof was repaired to fix leaking by a roofing company who only charged for materials used.
No labor cost.

While everything was out all walls were repainted, new shelving constructed, soil adjusted

around the foundation, electrical work done, all by volunteers. At that time, we expressed our

appreciation to those “saints” who had gone before us, leaving a financial legacy that funded

this renovation.

We were back in “business” by October and by the end of that year we were able to donate to

the church, as was our practice. From 2000 to 2014 or 2015 we had a window fan for use in the summer. Then we got central air conditioning which was a big help for all volunteers. During all these years the friendships developed among so many people in this church and community cannot be measured.

The Second Hand Ministry at Little house is closing at the end of July 2024. It has been a very good 24 years.
